What to expect for your child's first dental visit
Your child’s comfort and satisfaction are always important, but especially at their first dental visit with us. Firstly, let’s begin with an explanation of what you can expect at your first dental visit at Alpine Pediatric Dentistry.
Depending on the age of your child, the first exam will take about one hour. In addition, we love to have the parents participate and attend the whole dental visit. We will start the visit with the staff asking if you have any specific concerns, any oral health worries or fears. Most importantly, you and your child’s comfort is our priority, so if you have any questions, don’t be shy! We will also review your child’s health history form to make sure that nothing has been missed or overlooked. Your child will then be introduced to your pediatric dental team, receive a tour of the office, and have time to play and become comfortable before the examination. Meanwhile, diagnostic radiographs may also be taken, taking into consideration your child’s need and age. X-rays are needed to determine a child’s current dental condition.

Toddler’s First Dental Visit
“What age should I take my child for their first dental visit?” We get that question a lot. The AAPD guideline is “first visit by first birthday.” Which is a great recommendation to follow. Especially since having reached epidemic proportions, cavities have become one of the most common diseases in school age children. Most importantly, the best way that we can win the battle against cavities is through education, prevention, and early intervention. Alpine Pediatric Dentistry is one of the only dental offices in Southern California to be certified in Baby Oral Health Program (bOHP). This program was developed by the authoritative University of North Carolina department of Pediatric Dentistry.
